Commented on Inr level 2.3 8 months ago
2.3 is very good. my understanding is between 2.0 and 4.0 is normal. My INR usually runs 2.0 - 2.4 and I take 5 mg. of warfarin per day. I eat a 1/2 cup helping of a green vegetable or other vitamin K food three times a week in my meals on mon, wed, fri. as long as I don't do more than that mine stays around 2.2 or so which is good. Did you know vitamin K is found in more than just greens? I was surprised to find there is a good amount in Mayonnaise! and I love deviled eggs..Everyone is slightly different. You just have to find what works for you and stick with that plan. and check with your Dr. often to make sure nothing is going awry with your levels. hope this helps.

I purchased a paperback book from Amazon called "The Coumadin Cookbook". a guide to healthy meals when taking coumadin. fourth edition by Rene Desmarais, M.D. Greg Golden, RCS Gail Beynon. I have a photo but I could find no way here to share the photo. I think I bought it used for around $7. not sure how much it is new. It's aprox. 450 pages. has many many recipe for people who take Coumadin. Hope this helps you.

Hi Jenny, sounds like you are doing well with your warfarin. mine bounces up and down, my own fault, I love green foods...heavy periods are a pain. You may want to check with your doctor about that. losing more blood than usual when on warfarin should be reported. sorry I could not be of more help.
